  • Girl Genius

Has anyone attempted to create a setting based on the Girl Genius comic. I think this could be a great setting but would like suggestions on how to go about it?

Emiricol had created a pretty detailed version several years ago and posted it on Wikispaces. That page has since expired, but you can find it on the Wayback Machine:

Edit/ Or not. It looks like you can only get to the front page of Emiricol's wikispace page. Sorry for getting your hopes up.

Obviously Sparks all have the Weird Science. Probably with some modifications to reflect their strange mental states. You'd probably want figure out rules for a Construct Minion edge. And Jagers would need a racial template made. I'd suggest checking Deadlands: reloaded and the Smith and Robards Catalog for gadgets and useful steampunk goodness, and maybe the Scifi Companion for the updated race creator. I don't think too much else would be needed, except to stat up all the colorful characters and creatures.

Don't forget to include a disability that is activated when their hat is knocked off.
You're rational, sir. It's only us crazy people who get to swap out realities on a whim.

          AB: Spark
          Req: N, Smarts d8, Repair d8
Functions similarly to the Weird Science Edge. All Sparks have Habit Major: Experimentation and Curious built into them. These can never be removed, even with advances. In exchange, they gain the Gadgeteer Edge for free, so long as they meet the requirements (except for AB: Weird Science of course). Spark players are expected to unleash at least one zany invention per session, many of which will have explosive consequences for everyone involved.

          Jaegermonster
          - Starting Strength d8
          - Starting Vigor d6
          - Vow: Serve the Heterodynes
          - Habit (hats!)
          - Smarts costs double to raise during character creation.
          - Halve all darkness penalties

Concerning Dr. Mittlemand's theories on how some people are naturally inclined to be minions, perhaps a Minion Hindrance which results in a penalty to resisting Intimidation and Persuasion attempts from a Spark.
