  • Do Vehicle Mounted Weapons Suffer a Recoil Penalty

Player is in a sci-fi vehicle equipped with 20mm Cannons (ROF 4, 2d12, AP4). On their turn, Player opts to take 4 shots in one action round.

Does the -2 recoil penalty apply on vehicle-mounted weapons?

SWADE p.75 implies that vehicle mounted weapons eliminate recoil penalties, but it's not clear if that only applies to puny little machine guns, or to any vehicle-mounted weapon.

We are fighting in "Walkers" (I know, that's pre-SWADE Science Fiction companion stuff, so let's just call them sci-fi vehicles!), which are really just "bigger characters" with "bigger guns" that have "bigger recoil". Proportionally, it feels like they should have a similar recoil penalty as their smaller caliber counterparts.

Nothing in the SFC states that cannons (or any Vehicular weapon) ignores the Recoil penalty.

A Targeting System could be used to ignore the penalty, and the GM might create their own Mod specifically to negate it (like... Recoil Compensator: adds +1 Mods to Weapon and increases cost by 50%, negates recoil penalty).

But there's nothing inherently to ignore the penalty (except for machineguns in SWADE as mentioned).

    Hope that helps.
