A stationary size 16 (Gargantuan) escort carrier fires a heavy machine gun at a Lear jet, Size 8 (huge). It has -2 to hit.
Frustrated at a miss. The crew takes a M1A1 Abrams, size 9 (huge) onto the flight deck. So, the next time they shoot at the Lear jet. There is no minus to hit as it has the same scale. However, the M1A1 Abrams only has a medium machine gun in the turret. Lucky it can have the Heavy Machine gun fitted on a Pintle mount. This gun comes right off the vehicle weapons table on page 80. It does 2d10 AP4 damage and avoids the penalty.
They try to improve the machine gun futher. As luck would have it there is also a Jeep nearby. So, the crew take the gun off the tanks Pintle mount and attach to a similar one on the Jeep. As the jeep is size 4 (Large). The same gun now gets +2 to hit.
Even more lucky the crew manage to recruit Superpowered gunner that can shrink down to size -2(small). He sets up his tripod mounted M2 Browning (.50 Cal) from page 75. It also does 2d10 AP4 damage. The tripod negates recoil and min strength. As the this is a personal weapon fired by a Size -2 gunner. He gets a bonus of +6 to hit with the machine gun. Against the Lear jet.
So, the question is the pilot of the Lear jet distracted by fact that a machine gun on an escort carrier can’t hit him, but the size -2 gunner on the upper deck can’t seem to miss with a machine gun?
