  • Fear vs Fear

If two creatures both have the Fear ability, what happens?

Do they both make fear checks? Neither? Roll intimidation instead?

For the purpose of the question, assume they are different kinds of fear. (i.e. not just two devils staring each other down)

Two "creatures" would be two NPCs, so what happens is whatever the GM determines would happen. Fear Checks even says <italics added>, "The heroes make a Fear check (a Spirit roll as a free action) when they first spot a creature with the Fear ability."

Barring a Setting Rule, the GM would just need to make a situational call. They might consider whether one creature would be considered "Jaded" to the other or perhaps only applying the Fear effect of the creature with the larger penalty or simply that two scary things don't scare each other (Dracula ain't phased by Wolfman and Wolfman ain't phased by Dracula).

    Hope that helps.
