  • Dramatic Task Times

In Savage Worlds Deluxe, Dramatic Tasks were handled by way of "actions" where each action took as much time as the GM wanted.

The SWADE version of Dramatic Tasks does not mention this, and only gives examples that follow the normal combat turn system. Is that deliberate, or can Dramatic Tasks still happen outside the normal combat turn (each attempt taking one hour, for example)?

Nothing in Dramatic Tasks states they have to be "combat rounds." They're just rounds, where the definition of a round in SWADE is "an entire countdown of Action Cards, from the Ace to the Deuce (Two)."

In fact, examples like "rescuing victims from a fire" would likely take more time per round to resolve than the 6 seconds defined for basic combats. So there's no had and fast limit to the length of those rounds. As with most situational factors of the game, it would be determined by the GM.

    Hope that helps.
