Lower Trait aspect of Boost/Lower Trait

The spell description says lowers the trait by one 'die type' with a simple success. If the ogre has d12+3 strength for example does the strength go to d12+2, d12, d10 or d10+3?
Some PC's can raise attributes above d12 (and I did find the post that said boost trait can raise attributes to d12+, so I'm assuming that counts as a die type).

Each +1 above d12 is a die type, so if you get a success on lower Trait against an ogre with Strength d12+3, they'd have a d12+2 or d12+1 with a raise.

There are no +s between the other die types (d10, d8, etc.).

Lower Trait can only bring a Trait down two levels, so a d12+2 could only be brought to d12.
