  • Some help understanding Technical Difficulties

    When a Technical difficulty occurs, does it happen to everything involved in the roll?

    To help further illustrate what I am asking:

    1) A random sniper Combat Cyborg has the following cybernetics installed Range Data System (2), Targeting Eye, and a Skill Chip for (Shooting). As they unload with their railgun bad luck is on their dice and end up with a critical failure so off queue the Technical Difficulty. Does the Technical Difficulty result affect all of those items?
    Say if the result of the Technical Difficulty was "Glitch" does that mean the Range Data System, the Targeting Eye, Skill Chip (Shooting) all have their bonuses reduced by 1 point where as the railgun would suffer a -1 to further shooting rolls?
    Or does the Technical Difficulty affect one of those systems/items? If this is the case is there an order of operations for determination of what failed or is it a random roll/(Gm's call)?

    2) Techno Warrior Joe who has Reinforced Frame, Armor Plating, and a couple Synthetic Organ Replacements has the misfortune of being on the wrong end of a vibroblade. Deciding to make the attempt to avoid the wounds, Joe spends his benny to try and soak. He takes up the dice to roll the soak but fate just isn't on his side and critical fails the roll so suffer a Technical Difficulty as well being shish kabobbed . Would it apply to all of those subsystems? Armor is already called out as being dinged when on a failed soak roll when faced with a T.D., but would the Reinforced Frame or Synthetic Organs be dinged as well?

    Per Technical Difficulties, "Note, on a device with multiple systems, only the one specifically in use is affected." So in these cases, while multiple systems are all in use, only one would be affected.

    Which one, is purely up to the GM. It could be determined randomly (a good call for the first example) or by choosing what the GM feels is the most logical choice (in the second example, armor would likely be the first part hit, then after it was gone, the reinforced frame affected next, and finally the synthetic organs fully on the interior).
