  • Vagabond unskilled and boost trait

So if you boost trait on a skill a vagabond doesn’t have, they get temporary skill die and thus their “gifted” ability (unskilled at d4 instead of the regular d4-2) doesn’t kick in? Like no double dipping?

    Correct.

Vagabonds are competent in every situation. As Wild Card characters, they have a 62.5% chance of success when rolling a d4 skill without penalties; that's equivalent to an Extra with a d8 in the skill. If you spend a boost Trait casting on them, you're trying to raise them to a d6 or (in the case of the new greater boost Trait) provide a free reroll on the skill. Generally, you're better off using boost Trait on anyone working with the Vagabond rather than the Vagabond.
I hope you find the above post useful. And not insulting, because I was trying to be helpful, not insulting; being a pedantic jerk, that isn't always clear.
