  • [SPC2] Injury Table when Defeated

Does the Death & Defeat Table supercede the Injury Table? When a wildcard character with the Arcane Background, Superpowers dies in the the SPC2, they roll on the Death & Defeat table. Do they also need to roll on the Injury table? They technically fail the Vigor roll if they get a result of 1 or less. So would a character in that situation roll on both tables, or does the Death & Defeat trump the Injury table?

If the latter is the case, it would actually seem to me that it could be preferable to get a 1 or less on the Vigor roll, rather than a 2 or 3. If you roll Death & Defeat, there's a significant chance that you won't end up with Permanent Injuries. Drawing a 6 or higher means there's no permanent harm done. Plus, if you roll a 2 or 3, you might Bleed Out anyway and have to risk the Death & Defeat table, on top of the Permanent Injury you just got. It would seem that in that scenario, a critical failure on the Incapacitation Vigor roll would be preferable to getting a near-success. But maybe I'm just overthinking it.

Thanks in advance for your help.
