Actually, as an afterthought is there anything we can do to help move this process along?

I'd hate for TRES to not see the light of day if there was anything I could do to help.

From what I know, Talisman Studios is looking at TRES for layout. This is a really good thing, IMO. I hope they'll be able to lay the main book out. If they can, you can be sure of an excellent design and great-looking product.

I'd almost be happy with the content in a clean, but bare-bones layout at this point.

Looking back, the first post in this thread and about this game is from April 1st, 2005. Now that's what I call a long development time for a RPG book.

I'm prepared to accept a dot matrix printout on concertina paper, to be honest, but ultimately I want to see the book available and as good as it can be. If that means waiting, I'll wait.

After all, I'm still waiting for Slipstream, which is the setting book that got me into Savage Worlds in the first place.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who is patiently waiting and sticking with us while we get TRES into place. It's been a long ordeal, but I know when TRES finally comes out, you won't be disappointed. This is the first RPG Double G Press is producing and we want to get it right. The process began in 2005 and has carried us through nearly two and a half years of writing, re-writing, editing, layout and correspondence with a proofreading team, editors, artists and the guys at Pinnacle. I'm confident that TRES will be a top-notch RPG. Right now, Talisman Studios has the draft and from what I'm told, will probably do layout. I want to thank JB for his time and energy in crafting and editing TRES, and Peter for his many hours of layout work and input and all of the proofers for their comments and feedback.
Hang in there, folks. The best is yet to come!

Just finished proofing Mystery of the Anasazi. Peter did a great job at laying it out! He's putting the final touches on it and we'll release it on the Double G Press website.
Stay tuned, Pulp seekers... :jack:

I'm still saying give me TRES in a bare bones layout and I'll snap it up right now. While the look may enchance things, it's the content I'm after. Seems to be an awful long time in the layout stage.

Is there a new expected date for release? I visited your site and all the pages there reflect a summer 2007 release, which unless you also made a time machine, has already passed us by.

Thanks for this Eric, I am really looking forward to TRES. SW needs a good pulp setting.

Cuple of questions.

I see that you aren't using the new damage system as used in SWEX, why is this?

There is a weapon that does str+d1 though, which uses the SWEX rules. You are aware that a d1 always aces right?

A lot of the stat blocks don't seem to add up, but I also noticed several hindrances and Edges that I didn't recognise, any chance of letting us know how they effect the characters?

Keep up the good work

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate your thoughtful comments about TRES.

Simply put, we're not using the Explorer's Edition! :-)
SWEX came out after Mystery of the Anasazi was written last year. We're using the revised Savage Worlds rules that came out in 2004, but if you want to use SWEX, feel free to adjust and make modifications. It's you game, after all!
Problem is, there are some Edges and Hindrances (like Gestures and Incantations) that were around in 2006 when the adventure was written that didn't make the final cut. Editing is a lengthy process and we didn't catch everything.

I'm assuming you meant the survival knife. I just patterned it after the dagger in the rulebook.

When creating NPCs, they don't have to add up, actually. :-)

Onto some of the new Edges and Hindrances you might encounter:

Hinrances:

Obsession (Major) You are obsessed with something, such as acquiring occult knowledge, protecting abused children, collecting rare weapons, or getting a date with the cutie at the library. Whatever it is, it’s just about the most important thing in your life. You’ll neglect friends and responsibilities, expend vast amounts of energy and resources, and even put yourself and your companions in danger to pursue your obsession. To control your Obsession requires a Spirit roll at –2.

Bigot was scrapped and replaced by
Jingoistic (Minor or Major) Your hero dislikes people from other races, nationalities, or cultures and believes his own race, nationality, and culture to be far superior—a jingoistic Englishman, for example, dislikes South Africans and Amazonians as much as the French or Spanish. He cannot help belittling other cultures at every opportunity. A character taking the Minor version has –2 Charisma among other cultures. The penalty increases to –4 for the Major Hindrance.

The Rituals hindrance was also scrapped.

Hope this helps!

I think Pulp Hero is referring to the fact is says "+d1." As written, that means roll a d1, which naturally woudl always roll a 1 and Ace. Infinite damage :) I suspect you meant Str+1.

Derived stats do have to add up. You simply ignore the requirements of Edges, so you can give any NPC Block to boost Parry.

OK. Now I know what pulp hero meant when he said the stats didn't add up.
Thanks pulp heo and Wiggy for pointing this out.

The derived stats for the folowing characters are corrected here:

Miles Macray
Pace: 6, Parry: 6, Toughness: 6

Aztec Henchman
Pace: 6, Parry: 5, Toughness: 6

Talks With the Gods
Pace: 5, Parry: 5, Toughness: 6
(the 5 Pace is due to the Elderly hindrance)

Cowboys
Pace: 6, Parry: 6, Toughness: 7

Petroglyph Guardian
Pace: 6, Parry: 6, Toughness: 6

Dark Whisperer
Pace: 6, Parry: 6, Toughness: 9
(Toughness is raised +2 because he's an Undead)

I hope this helps!

Hey, gang.

A corrected version of Mystery of the Anasazi is up on the Double G Press website. All of the stats have been corrected and some of the new Edges and Hindrances (Gestures & Incantations, Rituals and Focused Mind) are explained.

The Str+d1 error is still there however...
