Growth/Shrink (and gun damage?)

#1 Postby Starhawk » Mon Aug 27, 2012 11:01 am

So let's say I'm playing Hell on Earth and we're getting torn apart by an automaton. My character is a junker with a device that uses the 'growth/shrink' power.

According to the rules, shrinking the automaton to rat size (size -2) steps down its Strength and Toughness a couple of notches, and there are no other game effects.

However, its incorporated minigun and grenade launcher are also shrunk down to dollhouse size... any thoughts on whether the damage should be reduced? The idea of getting lit up for 2d8 (ROF 5) from a Chucky-sized robot makes me weep.

Also, can I use Growth/Shrink on unattended, inanimate objects? The spell description seems to refer solely to targeting combatants. I'm curious to know if I can shrink a large item to sneak it past a checkpoint... use Growth on a cinder block to create an instant roadblock.... shrink (or grow) a door to pop it out of its hinges and pass through... etc etc.

How Growth/Shrink affects "natural weapons/attacks" (including intrinsic weapons) is going to be up to the GM's call based on the specific creature and trappings of the power.

Again, up to the GM and the predetermined trappings for the power as to whether it affects inanimate objects. Obviously since objects don't have Size or Strength, the power isn't inherently designed for that, but it could be feasible given GM approval of a trapping that would allow it.
