[SWD] Skill Specialties and Untrained

#1 Postby SavageGamerGirl » Sat Jan 07, 2012 6:35 pm

If you're using the Skill Specialties setting rule, and someone is untrained in a skill, therefore doesn't have a specialty, are unskilled checks made at d4-4 (-2 for untrained and -2 for not having a specialty) or still just d4-2?
'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: 'we're all mad here.'

Since allowing an untrained roll is up to the GM's call, they'd of course have the leeway to make a similar call here as well, but in general, I'd say being untrained and allowed to roll is like being able to use the skill but having no specialty at all.

Meaning in most cases, untrained is still a d4-2.
