I love DM Scotty's videos and techniques.
There are a lot of neat things to look at all over You Tube.

I found the 2.5D technic a few months ago and started painting. :-)

Years ago I stoped painting miniatures because of the price, but this cheap scenery crafting is the same fun.

And with Reaper Bones maybe I even get back to miniature painting.

BTW - the craftwar April entry "Unicorn glade" is from me. :-)

Have you looked into the old HeroClix and MageNight minis as possible customizing & repaints?
Some of them are dirt cheap $.59 and up:
Popular Collections

There's also Troll and Toad

The cheapest I've found them is 42 cents, where did you find them at 40 cents? And which minis?

I got 54 minis from Troll and Toad for $37.65, that's about 70 cents a mini, but the price range was from 49 cents to $1.89.

Local flgs sells all there normal sized used plastic minis including/mostly clix for 50 cents each or 5/$2. Horse men are 75 cents and tanks a dragons $5. and they don't bother with is it novice or veteran level or rare unless an ultra rare. They used to sell D&D minis the same way before they stopped making them

I like those mats and his stamping tool.

Where's the 3rd video? I guess it's about making the walls?

I'd like to give a big thank you to Dolomite23, who pointed out those videos in this forum. I'm having a lot of fun making 2.5 D gaming terrain now.

I'm now making pretty much what I want/need, it's cheap, and it's fast. Players are loving it as well. That and it's a lot easier to store over some of the things I have made in the past. Means the wife doesn't complain quite as much ... she loves me, but not all my stuff!

Two great things about DM Scotty's way of doing stuff. One is it's pretty cheap. Spend $20 and you have enough paint, glue sticks, and other supplies to make a mess of walls or tiles.

Second thing is that with just a simple change in color schemes most of the stuff can be applied to just about any genre from fantasy to sci fi, and everything in between.

Even if you aren't "crafty" seems like the players are more impressed that you put a lot of work into the game and they won't notice that you have one or two dings in your stuff that drove you crazy.
