Cool article to inspire GMs

#1 Postby tigerguy786 » Fri May 09, 2014 5:27 pm

This article has some really neat true to life mysteries in it that are just begging to be explored in a Savage Worlds game.

Rippers, Agents of Oblivion, any of those kinds of games that feature keeping the supernatural a secret could use these things. The first 2 are a book wrtitten in a language no one can translate and the second in a mechanical device from ancient Greece. Either of those hold all kind of possibilities in them.

Just thought i'd share with my fellow GMs, as I know I'm always looking for things to inspire game sessions.

"Well, you do know what those who underestimate tigers always say right?"
"What?"
"They scream, 'Oh god help me I'm being mauled to death by a tiger.'"

I have boxes of books on that kind of stuff (The Fortien) and hundreds of links and that is what Coast to Coast used to talk about but now it is all government conspiracies and Harmonic enlightenment. Any modern game should include all sorts of that suff

BTW the Baghdad Battery went missing in the ransacking of the Museums in Baghdad

Speaking of the Voynich Manuscript, I seem to recall an article a few months back where a scholar claimed that he may have figured out how to decode it.

In the Call of Cthulhu Miskatonic University sourcebook, it's a condensation of part of the Necronomicon.
The rabbit is cuddly. Kids like little cuddly sidekicks. I mean... The rabbit... It's a time-tested... Okay, the rabbit bites.

I just found a downloadable PDF of the Voynich Manuscript.

You can also get a reproduction if you wish to spend $199.99. Or you could spend $19.99 for an 18x24 foldout print.

The site also offers some other neat reproductions. "Ambush Printing is a rare document and artifact reproduction company. Our specialist reconstructs the rare, unique and most sought after treasures from history using period correct techniques." Quoted from their site.
