Hello All,

If you haven't heard, John Goff penned a wonderfully dark adventure for us, entitled Unstill Waters.

It's a modern scenario by industry veteran John Goff with a heavy emphasis on investigation and atmosphere. Drawn into a missing person's case, the characters soon learn there is something dangerous lurking just beneath the surface. Will the investigators be able to unravel the mystery before the world drowns in its own ignorance?

John brings something special to this adventure, through its structure, style, and depth. The adventure is very much non-linear, enabling the characters to follow the clues as they will and John's real world familiarity with investigation is showcased by his meticulous attention to detail throughout.

This adventure truly showcases the grim, dirt-under-your-nails reality where dark, Lovecraftian horrors could devour you on a remote, dirt back road, and no one would ever know the difference.

Get it from our shop today!

Regards,

Sean

Ideas for realms of cthulhu expansion: dark ages and future
- dark ages - I would look dark fantasy horror setting and also more detailed corruption system when wielding magic
- future - would be horror sci-fi, like alien, prometheus, dead space PC game, etc

Make it so.

Yeah, the future one would be cool. Especially since that is what I have wanted to do with Realms of Cthulu anyway.

Maybe someone should get WildFire on the line and see if they can get the rights for a Chthonian Stars/The Void book. (I've been trying to write my own conversion, but RL is such a witch.)

A book for sci-fi Cthulhu would be appreciated. Heck I'm thinking of using Realms of Cthulhu with Agents of Oblivion.

OMG! Yes!
But I don't like fan-made conversions. I want complete SW product.

Even official conversions can suck. For example, in the late 90's Steve Jackson Games published an official conversion for GURPS for their Werewolf and Vampire games. Put bluntly, those really sucked big time.

The problem is that there are three things to consider when converting a game system to another:

1) Conversion of stats and game elements.
2) Conversion of the setting and style.
3) Playability of the above with the new system.

A lot of conversions get way too caught up on number one. There is a lot more to a conversion than just making sure the numbers match up. Number 2 is the easiest, but the style can often get killed by number one. Number three is where the SJG conversions killed their books. They made it to be an unplayable and overly complex game. They held on to the things that don't translate well into GURPS and did not take the strengths of GURPS into consideration.

The best way to convert a game is to take the setting, look at the previous stats as GUIDELINES ONLY and then rewrite it with Savage Worlds in mind. When I first came to SW, like many I saw things that looked silly to me or that needed to be tweaked. But then I came on here and posted my ideas, and I tried to also play them at the tabletop, only to find that my "improvements" were not really improvements at all. Sure, sometimes I add something a little here and there, but I have found that it is mostly niche-specific, when I am trying to get a certain tone or feel for a very specific campaign setting.

My long-winded point? Official does not mean good, and fan-created does not mean bad. Honestly there has been a lot of fan-created that could be polished a bit and sold as official. The reason that a lot of it remains fan is because it gets tricky when you want to publish someone else's world for your game.

Agreed. Official does not make it automatically a quality product. I really like Savage Space and the free monster manual for SW, that are done by folks from our community. What I like about RPG products is also the art, fluff and physical books that fan-conversions do not give. (I like e-books (not pdfs) but game books need to be physically pleasing)

I think Realms of Cthulhu is good example of making SW conversion right. It relied to SW core rules as much as possible and didn't introduce new mechanics much - only sanity, which is essential.

Cthulhu Rising would be also one way to do good sci-fi horror. Additional psionics rules and some hard sci-fi stuff. Wantses it.

..... and ANDROIDS!!1

Did this ever come out? If not, is this still an active project?
