Persuasion

#1 Postby werksoltan » Fri Aug 22, 2014 3:18 am

How it works: Persuasion

Persuasion is (according to the rules) used to convince others to do what PC want them to do.

It is further clarified, that sucessfull rol improves NPC attitude one step (or two in the case of raise).

Practically: PC do a persuasion roll and if succeeds, will it change the NPC attitude to PC plus NPC will do what PC wants them to do?

(guard unlocked the cell, etc..?)

subquestion - is it possible to use for Persuation roll bonus, that was obtained before by Intimidation or Taunt roll against the same NPC?

thank you

It will change the target's Attitude, and if that Attitude corresponds with what the PC wants them to do, it could happen.

It's not automatic and the PC should not expect something beyond the possible Attitude change to occur.

For instance, a guard letting a hero free is putting himself at significant risk. A Friendly guard might do it for a bribe, favor, or other reward equal to the danger (which could be really tough for a prisoner to prove themselves capable of providing).

Only a Helpful guard would likely leave the cell unlocked, and since a guard is probably Uncooperative at best with a prisoner if not Hostile, that's unlikely to occur.

It's possible, but it better involve some good roleplaying as the GM could certainly apply a situational penalty to counter the bonus. Mocking and bullying someone is not usually conducive to asking a favor.
