Fabled Environments Kickstarter: A 100 Store Mall

#1 Postby FabledEnvironments » Wed Aug 22, 2012 8:46 pm

Hi,

Posted this in "The Break Room", but this seems like a better fit.

This Kickstarter is for a .PDF of a map of a 100 store, two-story mall that is over 750,000 square feet. The map will have three anchor stores, multiple shops of various sizes and a small, five vendor food court. One of the anchor stores will be detailed while the remaining two have been left to the GM to customize using a sheet of fixture icons, which can be printed and placed in a blank anchor store or shop to create a custom space.

Since many mall stores are designed in a similar fashion, four different store floor plans will be provided in order to flesh out the mall where needed.

We are over 45% funded but we need your help to hit our goal.

Please check out our Kickstarter!

Backed. I already have all the blueprints, and I hate naming stores & businesses anyways, so I went with the basic pledge.

Backed!

We purchased a gaming store for Silver Gryphon in one of the 96 little shell stores.

On a personal level, I backed it as well, again with a shell store. "Rohan's Chainsaw and Dynamite Emporium"

Make the PDF in layers so we can remove titles if need be.

Snate, I'm of the opinion that there will be several options available to print it in, just like the rest of their PDFs. If Fabled does its normal bang-up job, I'm sure there will be an option to have the mall printable with no store names/labels.

Not a problem! All of our newest maps have layers that can be turned off such as the grid, labels and furniture.

I am proud to say that we are 100% funded now with 17 days left until the end of the Kickstarter. That means plenty of time to hit some really cool stretch goals that we have created that will expand and flesh out the map further.

If you'd like to see a great map of a 2-story mall created for use in RPGs, we'd appreciate your support!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we hit our second stretch goal! We've got plenty of great rewards left such as the ability to name parts of or the entire Mall!

just recieved the pdf.

wow its all i can say. there is sooo many stores in this im not sure how to even put it all together lol. ive been using the tile function in adobe and cutting them out and glueing them onto poster board. an average size of poster board is 22"x28" and it works for most sizes except the 36 x 48, but there is simply no way i can do it for this. for 1 level of the mall itself not the parking lot or any of the outside stores there are 6 - 36x48 maps. (when tiled they come out to 25 - 8 1/2 x 11 sheets each. and thats just the first floor of the mall nothing else. i am really impressed. anyone else go through it yet? any thoughts on it? anyone use them in a game yet and if so what did you think?

One of my good friends had a similar concern when this project was first dreamed up.

This is the reason that we created what we call, "venues". These are pieces that we lifted out of the map that you can print out and drop on the table. These are areas that represent common locations for conflict. This might be a good way to go about using the map.

We provided the entire area just in case folks did want to print out other areas. However, the use of the venues might be the best way to approach this.

the ones called "repeating store floor plans" are what i am guessing you mean by venues. they will work well. also i was not meaning i had a concern with the size it is just im not sure where to begin :)

also i posted some pics of your maps used in another game system i ran its posted here.

http://www.outbreakundead.com/TheForum/ ... ndead-game

unfortunatly i had to cut off the fabled environments logo to get it laminated (lamination is very expensive). i dont mean any disrespect to savage worlds by posting another game systems website here and if its in violation i apologize now just wanted to show you sir and ma am that your maps are very useful :)

These look GREAT!! I'm so happy to see these in play.

No disrespect taken. :-) I can understand that they are expensive to laminate. I've used a teacher supply store to laminate mine in the past. MUCH cheaper. :-)
